Repeated Courses

When a course is repeated, only the higher grade is computed in the grade-point average. In most instances, credit may be earned only once for a given course; a repeated course will be designated as such on the transcript. When a course is repeated at another institution, the original SXU grade remains on the transcript and will continue to be calculated into the GPA.

A course in which a grade of D or F was earned may be repeated only once. A course in which a W (withdrawal) was assigned may be repeated only once.

A student who wishes to appeal this policy should direct a petition in writing to the assistant provost of Advising and Educational Planning Services, who will review the appeal with the student's advisor. The recommendation is forwarded to the department chairperson, who makes the final decision.
