Academic Advising

All matriculated, undergraduate students are assigned an academic advisor through Advising and Educational Planning Services. Staff members of Advising and Educational Planning Services advise pre-major level business majors, pre-clinical generic nursing majors, pre-major level education majors, liberal studies majors, students enrolled in selected School for Continuing and Professional Studies programs and students who have not declared a major. All other students are assigned faculty advisors within the department of their major. Changes of major or advisor are arranged through Advising and Educational Planning Services.

Students must have advisor approval to register for fall and spring classes. All students, both graduate and undergraduate, in the School of Education must have approval to register for all terms and semesters. Advisors provide information about core and departmental requirements, transfer credit, academic status, academic policies, articulation agreements, procedures and University services. Students are encouraged to make regular contact with their advisors on matters of academic planning and progress. The ultimate responsibility for making decisions about educational plans, consistent with policies of the University, rests with the student.
