Psychology Program

The psychology program is designed for those students who wish to better understand human thoughts, feelings and actions. Emphasis is placed on providing a broad and sound understanding of various aspects of human behavior. This foundation of knowledge will better equip students to understand and effectively relate to people.

Student's considering graduate study should keep in mind that most graduate schools require applicants to take the graduate record examination (GRE). To prepare for that, student's are encouraged to take additional empirical and methodological courses in psychology and to take courses in mathematics and computer science.

As with all major programs in the School for Continuing and Professional Studies, students are required to take the liberal arts core curriculum, the sequence of courses in psychology and elective courses in a variety of areas. The choice of elective courses should be made in discussion with the student's advisor.

Each of the two concentrations in psychology offered through the School for Continuing and Professional Studies leads to a bachelor of arts degree.

Clinical/Counseling Concentration Requirements

Student's interested in developing an understanding of normal and atypical behavior in both children and adults take the clinical/counseling concentration.

    PSYCH XXX Three psychology electives from among the 300-level courses (9)
  3. Electives to complete 120 credit hours. 

  4. Industrial/Organization Concentration Requirements

    Student's interested in the psychology of people at work, and who wish to work in a business setting or to pursue graduate study in industrial/organizational psychology, follow a program that provides training both in psychology and in business.
